How I Made $2500 on Poshmark

In the past two years, I’ve made a hobby out of selling pre-owned and thrifted clothing items on the Poshmark platform-to the tune of over $2500 in profit.

Brown leather Sevilla Smith boots

Some of my favorite flips include a pair of handmade leather boots that I picked up at a store in Boulder for $6, and ultimately sold for $150. Another find was a neon J.Crew Collection blazer that I scooped up for around $5, it sold within minutes for $75.

Below are some of the key things I believe are most important to building a successful and lucrative Poshmark closet!

Finding Your Formula

In order to keep this side hustle profitable, I focus on the following formula:

Estimated Sale Price-Purchase Price-Poshmark Fee > 2x Purchase Price

For me, this means when I am an item to buy and flip, I look at the comparable sale price (more information in the next section), subtract the estimated Poshmark fee, and if that result is at least 2 times the price it costs me to purchase the item, then it is a winner for me. I also use this calculation when accepting offers from buyers.

An example of an item that I sold last year that I purchased at my local thrift store:
